Introduction
My passion for technology has its roots in my childhood fascination for toy cars, the motor inside and the magnet within. I just had to open and repair every thing till it stopped working. Fortunately, this *destructive* curiosity got channelized by books like "How Things Work", Electronics Made Simple and my fathers hand me down ZX Spectrum Home Computer. I started programming in "BASIC" as a 7 yr old and graduated to C and C++ while at school.
In the year 2000, in the wake of the "New Telecom Policy" for India, which envisaged a huge demand for Cellular Mobile Services, Internet Telephony and Radio Trunking, I decided to pursue a Bachelors degree in Telecommunication Engineering. At college, I was introduced to Microprocessor/Microcontroller programming, Digital Signal processing and most importantly Communications. By the end of my engineering, I was largely interested in Embedded Multimedia and Communcation Systems. Which lead me to pursue job opportunity with STMicroelectronics, India in their Cellular Terminal and Platform Divisions.
I have for the past 2 years worked on the Middleware for a Low-cost phone (EDGE based with BT and 1MP Camera) and Middleware for a Multimedia System (Video Capture, Video Playback, Camera, Video Telephony) on a Symbian-S60 based High-end Mobile Smartphone.
